Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC)
A separation technique based purely on molecular size. Larger biomolecules elute earlier because they cannot fully enter the porous stationary phase, while smaller species penetrate deeper and elute later.
Hydrophilic Layer
A proprietary neutral coating used in Bio SEC-5 columns to minimize secondary interactions and deliver better efficiency and peak capacity—critical for accurate aggregate and high-MW biomolecule analysis.
Pore Size (Å)
The average pore diameter of the stationary phase. Bio SEC-5 columns support pore sizes up to 2000 Å, enabling the separation of very large biomolecules such as vaccines, AAVs, and VLPs.
Aggregate Analysis
The measurement of multimeric species (dimers, trimers, and larger aggregates) formed during biotherapeutic production. Bio SEC-5 provides the resolution needed to quantify these species with high confidence.
High-Salt & Low-Salt Stability
The ability of the SEC stationary phase to withstand a wide range of buffer ionic strengths without degradation or shifts in retention—essential for flexible method development and consistent results.
